A VPC Peering connection is a networking connection between two VPC’s that enables you to route traffic
between them using private IPv4 addresses or IPv6 addresses. While VPC’s are isolated from each other and normally can’t communicate to other VPC’s, the peering connection
allows them to communicate with each other as if they are in the same network.
You can create a VPC peering connection between your own VPC’s, or with a VPC in another AWS account. Inter region VPC peering allows us to connect VPC’s located in different AWS regions.
All this traffic is encrypted and remains on the global AWS backbone network so it doesn’t transit the public internet thus providing more security and better network speeds. Also
there is no single point of failure for communication.
In this video you can learn what a VPC Peering connection is in AWS and how to set it up.
