At re:Invent 2019 AWS announced a new feature for the Amazon API Gateway. This new feature is called HTTP API and it is basically a new flavor of the API Gateway. It offers significantly lower prices (70% cut) and better performance. It is still in preview and lacks some of the features of the REST API’s that the API Gateway had until now. Still for most people it might be a better option if they can live within the limitations. Migrating to this API is simple, one can just export the old API and import it in the new HTTP API.
This video shows you how to setup both types of API’s and also I do a small test regarding the performance with the ab load testing tool.
